Common Problems (Part 16 of 50)

Avoid name calling in dialogue #1. We rarely use others' names when we talk, especially when there are only two people.
  • "Honestly, Savannah, I’m having trouble believing it."
  • "Mom, you realize we are officially in the middle of nowhere."
  • "You know, Marion, that I go…"
  • "But, Bill, do you think…?"

As long as it's clear who is speaking and to whom,
we don't need to add names in the dialog.
